Let's Take A Closer Look
Unit Overview
The world is full of details that people overlook everyday. Artists and cultures throughout time choose to communicate and deal with these details in different ways. Analyzing the world of details explores how artists choose to convey their point of view and through different artwork, we can see how details within the artwork share a glimpse of the artist. In this unit, students will explore details in nature, within culture, and within their personal lives.
In teaching at an International School, this unit will help students develop a more personal sense of their culture and their personal history. Students come and go from my school often, so giving students a grounding into their own personal history as well as details that define them, will give them something to take with them. Also, the Islamic culture is full of religious and cultural details not only shown through their artwork, but also within their traditions and customs. This unit will attempt for students to understand the richness within the culture they live, and give them a chance to look at incredible detail happening all around them.
